Longing For A Savior: (Ruth) O Little Town of Bethlehem

Steadfast. Now that’s not a word we use very often. It means “unwavering”. Nothing phases it. So what does it mean when we say that God’s love is steadfast? It means that God’s love is constant, unmoving, and freely given. But its really easy to forget that, at least for me. When things aren’t going my way, when I am afraid, hurting, longing, mourning… its easy to think that God has forgotten us. But this isn’t the God that we meet in scripture. Throughout the story of Ruth, God’s steadfast lovingkindness is on display as he provides for two widows, and ultimately for all of humanity through them. The call for us is to receive that lovingkindness and to reflect it out to the world, that all might know who he is!
