Palm Sunday: Right About Everything Except What Mattered (Luke 19:28-44)

Mar 29, 2026    Peter Voorhees

They knew their Scripture. They were expecting a king to come and rule — and they were right. They just didn't know which visit this was. Jesus will come to overthrow every enemy and rule with justice. That day is coming. But this visit had a different agenda — something deeper, more necessary than political liberation. Before he could come as conquering king, he had to come as atoning sacrifice. The crowd was ready for the second coming. They weren't ready for the first. Right about everything except what mattered most — right now. This Sunday, Luke 19: Jesus stopping mid-parade to weep over the city he's about to die for. Come ready to ask: am I so focused on what Jesus will do that I'm missing what he's doing?
