Refuge in Love in the Face of Tragedy (Genesis 3:1-13)

May 12, 2024    Peter Voorhees

This Mother's Day, we will explore Genesis 3:1-13, a passage that highlights the beauty of humanity, the tragedy of sin, and the hope of redemption. As we celebrate the incredible role of women and mothers, we recognize that God designed women to be life-givers, reflecting His own life-giving nature.

However, Genesis 3 also reveals that Satan, understanding the significance of women in God's plan, seeks to attack and deceive them. The entrance of sin into the world through Adam and Eve's disobedience is a tragic moment, yet God provides hope. In Genesis 3:15, He promises that through the woman, a savior will come to crush the works, effects, and lies of the devil – a promise ultimately fulfilled in Jesus Christ.

Join us this Sunday as we celebrate the life-giving role of women and mothers, acknowledge the ongoing struggle against the enemy's attacks, and rejoice in the hope we have through Christ. Together, we will honor the women in our lives and give thanks for God's incredible design and plan for humanity.
