Joy Experienced by the Shepherds
When was the last time you felt truly seen by God? This Sunday we continue our Advent series "Sacred in the Ordinary" by exploring the joy experienced by the shepherds in Luke 2:8-20. These weren't religious elites—they were working-class men doing a job most people looked down on. Yet God chose them to receive the first announcement that the King of Kings had arrived. While Herod felt threatened and religious leaders remained indifferent, these ordinary shepherds dropped everything to run toward Jesus. Their joy erupted from the stunning reality that God saw them and invited them into the greatest moment in human history. Join us as we discover what their response teaches us about experiencing authentic joy during Advent, and why the God who showed up for shepherds still shows up for ordinary people like us today.
